The final line up of Poetic Licence was complete in June 2011. We are predominantly a covers band, but we are currently putting the finishing touches to our original material. We chose our name as we like to take songs and put our own stamp on them. We believe that any decent track can be funked, jazzed or mixed up a bit! But not so much that you completely deviate from these good solid songs! For example, you will never have heard ‘Seven Nation Army’ by the White Stripes, like we play it! Tinkling slide guitar with a flamenco influence solo followed by build of percussion layers leading into the thumping bass line and perfect guitar and vocals! Seeing is believing!
We like to intersperse and infuse all elements of music into our versions. Funk, Jazz, Blues, Soul, Rock, Pop, Flamenco and even heavier stuff can be found in our sets! We truly are unique! But we also play to our audience - We know what will be received well by who, and mould our set lists accordingly.
Some of our current covers are:
Superstition - Stevie Wonder, Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits, Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes, La Grange - ZZ Top, Sunshine Of Your Love - Cream, I Bet That You Look Good On The Dance Floor - Arctic Monkeys, Earth song - Michael Jackson, I Want You Back Jackson 5, Slither - Velvet Revolver, Mr Brownstone - Guns 'n Roses, Dakota - Stereophonics, Always on the run - Lenny Kravitz, Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie, Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy, Another brick in the wall (Part 2) - Pink Floyd, When we were young –The Killerz, Calafornication – Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Mr Blue Sky -E.L.O, Plug In, Baby & Kinghts of Cydonia - Muse, Tribute - Tenacious D, 20th Century Boy & Get It On - Get It On - T.Rex.
